Irony is a Broken Body

How ironic that the day after I post about it being a new year and being excited about new beginnings, I break my nose and right elbow, thereby leaving me incapacitated for almost 2 weeks...
I got the nose cast of today though - exactly 2 weeks later - but I'm not cleared for running from the Orthopedic doctor. I've Googled though and found articles and blogs on people who have run with broken arms and elbows and they seem none the worse for the wear. I just need to try it, and go easy.
One more thing: I have looked into Overeaters Anonymous because I realize I have an eating disorder and a very unhealthy relationship with food. The is an online meeting for newcomers on Saturday so I hope to attend then. It will be tricky with a basketball game at 10am, but I'll see if I can make it work.

New Year - New Start

I love New Years. It's a time to plan the next year of your life, it's a time to reflect on the past year of your life and see what you can do better, and a time to dream big and find ways to make those dreams happen.
I will write my 2017 goals out once I have a chance to define them a bit, but I had a great day 1: made mindful choices with my food, got over 10000 steps in, helped Ted organize the garage, went to the movies as a family, and told Wendy Shine how much I appreciate her (random act of kindness).
I'm looking forward to a great year ahead.

Give It 100

Day 2
Had to take a 4 day hiatus due to coming down with the flu. Felt a lot better today so did a 7 minute workout in the morning, and played Just Dance on the Wii with Eli for 45 minutes. It wasn't a full on workout, but it got my heart rate up.  :-)
Told the family that I am going to be focusing on getting 8 hours of sleep. That means being in bed by 9:30 to wind down and fall asleep by 10:00. No screens for 1 hour prior to bedtime. This way I can wake up at 6am to get a workout in.
Taking care of ME.

Give It 100

Day 1
Tired of feeling tired, sluggish, fat, "over 40," and wondering what the point is in trying.

The point is that I want the best quality of life I can have for as long as I can have it. I want to dance for as long as my body allows. I want to enjoy life to the fullest, not waste my hard-earned money on healthcare in retirement, enjoy my children and future grandchildren, and not let my body and/or health keep me from being and doing all I want and am meant to do.

Happiness Project

I have the most amazing boys. They work hard and don't give up. Eli in particular works his little butt off, but Trevor worked hard today too. I'm amazed at all we got done!

Happiness Project

For Eli's birthday, I picked him up from school and we all went to the Family Fun Center. We raced go-carts, jumped on the bungee trampolines, and played video games.  It was so much fun, and Eli loved it!
I also realized a trait that Eli has in common with Ted: being conscientious. On his own, he makes sure he's wearing "silky shorts" (athletic wear) and tennis shoes on the days he had PE. He makes sure he has all the right gear for baseball practice. He's a very responsible kid, and I'm impressed by his maturity in that area.

Happiness Project

Helped Trevor write his campaign speech he had to deliver tomorrow. Despite his initial reluctance, by the end he was really excited and doing very well. We'll see how things go tomorrow!
